  1. Release Notes for Yearn2Learn Master Snoopy's Coloring Book:
  2. ------SOUND DIFFICULTIES--------
  3.  
  4. DISNEY SOUND SOURCE:
  5. Is not 100% Sound Blaster Compatible!
  6. It will not work properly with our software.  The sound will not be 
  7. synchronized with the action, and the program will lock up.
  8.  
  9. ERROR MESSAGE:  "Lingo error, sound not defined"
  10. If this appears, make sure you have a Sound Blaster compatible sound card 
  11. installed in the computer. The built-in PC speaker alone, will not allow the 
  12. program to work.
  13.     Also be sure that the correct software driver for your sound card is 
  14.     installed. To check this:
  15.      go to Main,
  16.      double-click Control Panel,
  17.      double-click Drivers,
  18.      and look through the list for your sound driver. 
  19.  
  20. ENSONIQ SOUND CARDS:
  21.     These will need to have the Sound Blaster emulation turned on. Do
  22.     this by:    
  23.  
  24.     going to Main, 
  25.     double-clicking on Control Panel, 
  26.     double-clicking on Drivers, 
  27.     and selecting the driver from the list, called   DVD,MIDI,WAV,AUX, 
  28.     click on this driver,
  29.     then click on setup,
  30.     where WAVE A, is disabled, change the setting to 0. 
  31.     Where WAVE B is disabled, change the setting to 3.
  32.     This will start the sound.
  33.  
  34. GATEWAY COMPUTERS:
  35. Recent versions of the Gateway systems are now using ENSONIQ sound 
  36. cards.   These cards may not be configured properly to be Sound Blaster 
  37. compatible with the shipped pre-installation.   This may result in no sound 
  38. being heard.
  39. - Solution:
  40.     Please see your Sound Card manual and setup the card so that it can 
  41. run as a Sound Blaster compatible card in Windows.
  42.  
  43. LAPTOP OWNERS:
  44. Most laptops do not have Sound Blaster compatibility, so they will need an 
  45. external sound device that plugs into their parallel port.
  46.       One such device is called the Audio Port, which was produced by 
  47. Media Vision, and can be obtained from Tiger Software 800-888-4437, or 
  48. AMC Sales 800-882-0587.
  49.     Also another device of this type is the Portable Sound Plus made by 
  50. DSP Solutions 415-494-8086.

  54. --------VIDEO DIFFICULTIES---------
  55.  
  56. GENERAL:
  57. The program will load correctly on a standard 16 color VGA display, 
  58. however the display needs to be at a setting of 640 x 480 x 256 colors, to 
  59. play correctly. To check on your display driver,
  60.  
  61.      go to Windows Main Group,
  62.      double-click on the Windows Setup icon,
  63.      and your Display driver will show on the top line.
  64.  
  65. If it says VGA, you will need to load a 256 color driver to play the program. 
  66. This can be obtained by calling Microsoft at 800-426-9400 and then push  #5 
  67. on the dial and tell them you need to get their SUPER VGA driver, which is 
  68. 640 x 480 x 256 colors.  They usually send this on a 3.5 floppy disk.

  70. PACKARD BELL COMPUTERS:   
  71. Some users may have the program come up in black and white, without color.   
  72. - Solution:  
  73.  
  74.     Click on the Navigator icon. (Six choices should appear)
  75.     Click on Software.
  76.     Click on Startup options.
  77.     Click on Startup with Microsoft Windows.
  78.     Click on ok.
  79.     Click on File Menu Command and select exit windows.
  80.     At the C:\ prompt, simultaneously hit CRTL-ALT-DEL to reboot the
  81.     computer.    
  82.     The program should now appear in color.
  83.     Open up navigator and click on startup options.
  84.     Select startup in Microsoft Windows and reboot.
  85.     Color should now appear.

  88. CIRRUS LOGIC VIDEO CARD DRIVERS:
  89. Some versions of these drivers are having compatibility problems running in 
  90. the Super VGA mode.
  91. - Solution:
  92.  
  93. Please use the Microsoft SVGA driver.  This driver is supplied with 
  94. Windows 3.11 or may be acquired from Microsoft free of charge if you have 
  95. version 3.1 and call Microsoft at 1-800-426-9400.
  96.  
  97. ATI VIDEO CARD OWNERS:
  98. If the programs work correctly with the exception of a few pictures that 
  99. appear to
  100. have scrambled video, you can correct this by contacting ATI tech support at
  101. 905-882-2600 or go to the WIN.INI  file (for ATI Mach32 look for the 
  102. Mach32 section, and edit the line or lines that read:
  103.  
  104.     DeviceBitmap=ON  
  105.  
  106.     Change this to read:
  107.  
  108.     DeviceBitmap=OFF
  109.  
  110.     Also change, if found, the line that reads:
  111.  
  112.     DeviceBitmapDraw=On, 
  113.  
  114.     change this to read:
  115.  
  116.     DeviceBitmapDraw=Off
  117.  
  118. For Mach64 drivers, also change these settings to read off, for both 
  119. DeviceBitmap, and DeviceBitmapDraw. This will correct the scrambled 
  120. video.

  122. SYSTEM ERROR WHILE TRYING TO START:
  123. Some systems video card drivers may conflict with Snoopy's Geography.  
  124. This may cause the program to return a Window's system error while trying to 
  125. run.  
  126. - Solution:

  128. Check your config.sys file and change your configuration line 
  129. with the EMM386.exe device driver to look like this:
  130.  
  131.     DEVICE=C:\DOS\EMM386.EXE NOEMS X=A000-C7FF
